The Machine Safeguarding Assessment Process
1. Discovery
Our safety guarding assessments begin when you provide us with a list of all the machines that you would like to include in our final safety evaluation. We go over any questions you may have relating to your goals, project initiatives, or the specific needs and challenges faced by your business.
2. Evaluation
Once on site, our expert technicians evaluate each machine that was specified in the machine list you provided. Each piece of equipment is documented by make, model, serial number, and property number if available. Our safety guarding assessment report includes photos and/or videos showing your machines and their particular hazards, as well as the relevant regulatory references and our recommendations for correcting any and all hazards we discover.
3. Risk Assessment
Each machine is also assigned a risk ranking based on factors such as frequency of use, probability of injury, and potential severity of harm. This ranking helps to determine the current level of safety in your facility, and it also aids you in prioritizing remediation project planning.
Avoid Machine Guarding Citations!
FACT: Machine guarding violations remain one of the most frequently cited OSHA standards across numerous industries. These machine guarding citations can easily cost your business anywhere from $10,000 to well over $1 million. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, injuries from machines also cost businesses millions of dollars in medical expenses, increased insurance premiums, unscheduled downtime, and other hidden costs. More than that, though, as an employer, you are responsible for the safety of your employees. Your workers are your most valuable asset, and you owe it to them—and to yourself—to provide a safe and secure workplace.
